is no reason to fear the wind” – words
of comfort and wisdom for everyone. “Source
of Strength” is part of our premiere Traditions
line.
This intermediate-level project
features a repeating Celtic knot pattern, the
inspirational quote and three-dimensional oak
tree.
Stitchers will be relieved to find
easy-to-read symbols in a full color pattern.
Chart opens up to an extra big pattern (17½”
x 23½”). Includes a story about the
origins of Celtic design.
Stitched on aida or evenweave; DMC
and Anchor codes.
Michelle talks
about this pattern
Life has so many dips
and sways. Our graphic-design business was going
through one of those shaky, growing times a few
years back when Bob happened upon a traditional
Japanese quotation in a book: "When the root
is deep, there is no reason to fear the wind."
He found the words steadying, and
began trying to work it into a design for Great
Bear. Somehow, though, he couldn't get the words
and images to come together.
Then September 11 happened. Bob
grew especially quiet as he tried to make sense
of it all. He couldn't get the image of the torn
buildings out of his mind – "They look
uprooted," he told me – nor the thought
of all those torn lives.
Bob went back to that beautiful line of Japanese
wisdom and found new comfort there. He also found the image that
had eluded him earlier. What says endurance, strength and rootedness
better than a big, gorgeous old oak? That tree is staying put.
